Broadway Dallas is planning an "Ain't To Proud" STEAM education program.

Broadway Dallas, Dallas Independent School District, and Generous Insurance Company recently announced a district-wide STEAM education program. This program is themed around the Broadway musical Ain’t Too Proud – The Life and Times of the Temptations.

The multi-week program will involve 3,400 drama students and teachers from 25 Dallas ISD high schools. Their specially created curriculum is related to musical productions and is taught in classrooms by Broadway Dallas Educational Artists. All participating students and teachers will participate in an exclusive performance of AIN’T TOO PROUD at Fair Park’s Music Hall from September 6-18.

The partnership between Broadway Dallas and the Dallas ISD is expanding, striving to provide access to the “spirit of Broadway” through a wide range of programs and initiatives. 2021 features Hamilton’s national tour.

“AIN’T TOO PROUD is the perfect show for this programme, mostly BIPOC Dallas ISD students show people who look like them on stage portraying the meteoric and historical tales of successful black men’s groups. Because you can see, ”added the newbie.

“Having personally experienced this show on Broadway several years ago, I am thrilled to be giving my students this opportunity,” said Stephanie Elizalde, Dallas ISD Superintendent of Education. “The opportunity to learn about live theater production from a real teaching artist is truly a gift. This award-winning musical and its lessons in history, music and the all-important 1960s will be a treasured experience. We thank Broadway Dallas and its partners for making this a reality.”

The TD Jakes Foundation is a Dallas-based nonprofit organization focused on building bridges between underrepresented communities and life-changing opportunities. The Foundation, as an extension of its STEAM Academy, will join His Dallas Broadway again this year as a presenting sponsor of the program through a special partnership with His Dallas Mavericks.

The Foundation and the Dallas Mavericks are pleased to announce a multi-year partnership that will expand opportunities and enable more young people to explore STEAM education and careers. The Dallas Mavericks sponsorship fits into the larger MavsTakeACTION. The program is designed to address racial inequality, promote social justice, and foster change within the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Developed to prepare students for college and 21st century careers, this curriculum provides students with basic training in video editing and develops their creative and technical skills with industry-leading tools. Includes a series of lesson plans to sharpen. Includes lessons covering the civil rights movement and the historically significant events that coincided with the rise of the Temptations.

Inspired by the opportunity to create collective impact by serving the youth of our community, the Moody Foundation and the Addi Foundation also made significant contributions to undertake this project.

Ain’t Too Proud Award
