The world’s best tennis players are preparing for the US Open by competing in several warm-up tournaments.
This includes the Cincinnati Masters, also known as the Western & Southern Open, the seventh WTA 1000 event of the season.
With 900 ranking points and a first place prize of $412,000 (£341,000), the tournament attracted some of the biggest names in women’s tennis.

When is the Cincinnati Masters?
With the qualifying stages completed at the Cincinnati Masters, main draw play begins today.
The singles finals will take place on Sunday, August 21 at 2:00 PM EDT.
Where is the Cincinnati Masters located?
The Cincinnati Masters will be held at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.
The ground has four permanent tennis stadiums, making it the only venue other than the four Grand Slam venues with two or more permanent stadiums.
The tournament will be played on hard courts.
Who’s Playing at the Cincinnati Masters?
World No. 1 and top seed Iga Siwiantek is a Cincinnati Masters qualifier, as are world No. 2 and No. 3 Annette Kontaveit and Maria Sakkari.
Emma Raducanu continues to prepare for her US Open title defense in the tournament, while home favorites Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff look to continue their impressive run this season.

The Williams sisters are also set to compete, and Serena has been on a farewell tour after announcing she was “getting away from tennis” after the US Open.
Other notable names include Naomi Osaka, Simona Halep and Wimbledon champion Jelena Ryvakina.
Ashleigh Barty will not defend her title after announcing her retirement from tennis earlier this year.
